  • Bedwetting Isn’t The Child’s Fault

Posted on July 9th, 2010 admin No comments

Bed wetting is not the fault of anyone and as such shouldn’t be blamed at anyone. Parents, relatives, and the whole family for that matter should not blame the bed wetting child and should understand how bed wetting is unwanted by everyone but sometimes can be inevitable. Punishment shouldn’t be an option as well as this will just make the situation worse and more difficult for the child affected by the situation. It is already bad enough for the child involved that they are suffering from the condition and they shouldn’t have to be put in a more delicate state by scolding. Instead, encouraging words, a loving attitude and patience should be upheld when dealing with a child who is having problems with primary nocturnal enuresis. Several treatment options and precautions are available for handling nocturnal enuresis, the medical more accurate term for bed wetting. nighttime bed wetting alarms are available for use with the purpose of conditioning a child’s sleep wake pattern when they are faced with a full bladder during sleep. This is utilized to condition a child who has troubles wetting the bed. Pull-up pants and diapers are also made available to help reduce the impact that wet and soiled mattresses can produce. They can prove to be effective and helpful instead of spending more work and money on laundry. Hypnosis has also been used and advised to help prevent and treat bed wetting in children. This method however, is more unconventional and is rather controversial because medical doctors tag it as a method having more of a placebo affect instead of a curative effect. Medication prescriptions for Bedwetting are usually the doctor’s last resort. After a child has tried different options in treating bed wetting and has not succeeded in preventing and halting the wet nights, medications such as anti-diuretic hormone drugs and tricyclic antidepressants may be prescribed to counter nocturnal enuresis.
