Isn’t it scary to find a dentist? After all, you are putting your oral health in their hands. It’s risky, because nobody wants to put their money in the pocket of a bad dentist. That could be avoided if you know what questions to ask before picking a new dentist. After asking for recommendations from people you know, searching through the internet, and skimming through phone books, it’s time to talk to the dentist! Below are questions that you can ask to your new dentist. It is important to have all of these questions answered, as it could save you from possible getting disappointed in the future. 1.    Is he willing to accept new patients? Sometimes, dentist wouldn’t accept new patients because they already have a lot, and accepting new ones could possibly mean that his schedule might overload.2.    How long has he been in practice? Find a dentist that has years and years of experience.3.    How long has he been in the location? Be wary of dentists who move a lot, they could be escaping from patients who have bad feedback about them.4.    Does he treat patients who have special conditions, like HIV, physical handicaps, and autism?5.    What kind of anesthetic treatments does he use to make the patient feel more comfortable? Not everyone will admit it, but a lot of patients (yes, even adults) get nervous when visiting dentists. Find a dentist who cares about how relaxed you will be throughout the procedures.6.    How full is his schedule? A dentist who is often fully booked could be a good one, but it could also mean that you have limited choice when scheduling appointments with him. On the other hand, a dentist who hardly has appointments could mean that he is having difficulties gaining trust from patients.7.    Is he up-to-date with the latest in dental technologies? It’s a good decision to go for those who constantly upgrade their technologies, as new techniques are often developed as time passes by.8.    Does he regularly attend conventions, lectures, seminars or/and trainings? New techniques come up every year, and it is important for your dentist to be updated with these new findings.9.    Is the location convenient for you? It shouldn’t be too far away from your workplace, from your house, or from places that you frequently visit.10.    How does he handle emergencies? Find a dentist who can take care of you if emergencies arise. If he can not attend to you personally, make sure he has contacts with other dentists or emergency services that will attend to emergencies.11.    Are his fees too high? It’s not wrong to invest money for health purposes but it’s also wise to compare prices with other dentists who can offer the same quality of service. Ask him if he has different payment options and/or payment plans, too.12.    Do they work on insurance claim for you or do you have to do it by yourself? It’s not wrong to ask questions, especially because you’re dealing with your personal oral health when finding dentists. Make sure that you are getting the best value and service when you search for dentists!
