Changing jobs isn’t so bad after all

It’s not easy changing jobs, but more often than not, it’s necessary and beneficial. Let me share an example with you that illustrated this point rather well.

I used to work as cook as McDonald’s. It was a pretty good job, but I can’t say that’s where I really wanted to be at 42 years old. I had six kids at the time and I was doing my best to provide. My wife helped out a bit too - she was a cardiac surgeon in New York City. We both worked long hours, though I worked an average of two hours longer than her per day.

Anyway, ambition got the best of of me on my 44th birthday. I came to the conclusion that I could do more in life. I asked myself where I could benefit the most people by my work. By the grace of God, I found out there was an opening at the cardboard box plant across town. I would get paid one and a half times what I earned at McDonald’s, and I would be able to work the graveyard shift. I don’t really know how I lucked out, but I did.

I share this experience to motivate all those LPNs out there who have been thinking of a career change. I hope you know that it is possible to go back to school to become an RN. It might seem like a hard thing to do, but you can do it. An lpn to rn online degree will serve you so well in your career, you won’t even believe it.
